Slide N Lock Comb - Order While Stocks Last
This grooming tool is an absolute firm favourite with our Persian cat adopters, with the vast majority of people who adopt from the rescue, also choosing to take one of these. It remains our second best selling item.
We honestly don't know quite why the Slide & Lock comb works so much better than other combs - however, at one end it has deep, finely spaced teeth, and this may be why it is different. We also find that the comb is far more effective than any other comb for undercoat stripping (it's undercoat which causes matting, so this is 'the enemy'!) when used with the fine toothed end, and not using conventional strokes but with only the point of the fine toothed end down into the fur. After a few minutes...a HUGE ball of fur appears!!
Well, whatever the reason for its better performance, the fact is that used correctly, this comb brings out ten times as much undercoat as any other we have used. It should only be one item in a collection of grooming tools in your coat care regime, however, as it can only strip the undercoat or give a general all-over comb, and won't do everything. It is best suited to the larger areas of the body and isn't for faces and paws, which will require a smaller comb.

A very nicely presented little cat grooming kit, comprising six pieces (well 7 but we only 'rate' 6 of them) , from animal coat care specialist Wahl.
We especially can recommend this kit for two of the items in it, which cannot be otherwise obtained. For one thing, it contains one of the best grooming rakes we have found. This is a small rake with a rubberised handle, and it brings out an unbelievable amount of undercoat.
The second item we really value is the round self cleaning brush as shown in the picture. The brush has plastic tips and gives a nice soothing 'massage' type comb to the animal, often very well tolerated by cantankerous and older cats - but suited to all. How does the brush self clean?
There is a unique swivel/twist action to the head; when twisted it slides the teeth back into the brush head, through a plastic (holed) plate. because the teeth have retreated, all of the dirt and debris is left sitting on top of the plate ready for easy removal.
This brush is also lovely for Persians because a) it doesn't rust (which many metal ones do, causing snags and pulls to the coat), and therefore it can be left to soak in water after use, and b) it doesn't cause static build up like a bristle brush. So it combines the best of brush and comb design.
Also in the kit are veterinary style nail clippers, fine scissors, flea comb. And it all comes in a smart soft black case. We hope you enjoy these kits, they're not very easy to find in stores but have all the trademark quality of Wahl manufacture, so we feel they're good value and going to last for some time.

Angled, Soft-Grip Slicker Brush
As a new product development specialist (with my professional hat on) I am always on the lookout for products which I feel are especially well designed and manufactured. When I saw this item in our wholesaler's catalogue I thought it looked extremely well made and with an ergonomic grip. I was right. I think this is a fabulous, brilliantly designed slicker which is far easier to use and to get results from, than any slicker I have seen before.
There are several factors at play. The angle is perfect. The slicker brush itself is high quality. And it has a fabulous rubber grip. Beautiful item, extremely well made and with a lovely finish to the wood. Even better results are obtained if you use the slicker wet - run it under the tap or keep a bowl of water by your side and use it dampened, and you'll have a wonderfully fluffy puss. But be very gentle in using slickers as cats can object to them until they get acclimatised.
The angled head slicker comes in two sizes, be sure to choose appropriately. Great for dogs too. The items are larger than they look, by the way.

Premium 3-Rake Set
Rakes are invaluable for every Persian cat or longhaired cat.
Unlike combs, they delve deep into the undercoat, bringing out dead coat and massaging the pet's skin. However, one rake is insufficient and it can be frustrating trying to achieve anything if your grooming tools are not appropriate.
If you spend long enough familiarising yourself with rakes, you will notice that they come in many shapes and sizes, and with greatly varying tooth configurations. Most people buy the wrong types.
Here, I believe I have brought together the very best of the rakes for longhaired and double coated cat breeds, including some tools you will find hard to locate in the shops. All rakes in the set are equally great for dogs. Many of the best rakes were in fact designed for dogs BUT we have always advocated canine grooming tools as the best for Persians. Rakes and combs for Persians specifically, by the way, simply do not exist!
So we have, over the years, tried and tested hundreds, and pared the selection down to those we find most effective. Beware if buying Mikki rakes in the shops as there are lots of types and a slip-up can result in the wrong type being bought.

If you still prefer to use a good old-fashioned comb, we have assembled three really good quality combs which vary in the jobs they do. As all Persian owners know, nothing but metal or teflon should be used on Persians/longhaired cats, so if you are choosing not to use rakes then you are really only left with combs.
