MORE - SPAM, Spam, (not so) Glorious Spam....!

Last month I reported how I was having to remove a lot of the active email address links from the website. Now, we are in addition changing all the email addresses from those we have had a long time. The main email address now, for all enquiry types, will be: ask@chapelhouse-persians.co.uk

Now, when you see an email address on the website and wish to send us a message, you will have to cut and paste the email address into your email address bar - or type it in - rather than just clicking on what used to be an active link. Thousands of spam emails a day is no joke.

This, of course, is because nasty malicious software is known to creep through websites, finding all our active email links.

If we apply spam filters, these seem to lose us a sizeable proportion of genuine emails; I reckon I am missing around a third of your emails on an ongoing basis.

So, I hope everyone manages to fathom the new system - alternatively I might start getting thousands of emails saying 'your email links don't work'. Aaagh!!

For now we can only take in cats who are in good condition, because not only do we have a massive unexpected bill but also, all our recent cats have needed far too much vet attention, quite disproportionate to incoming fees.

We also need you to donate:

• In addition we can use most cat medications that you have 'odds and sods' left of - we are likely to know what they are for.

We also need volunteer drivers who do not place a big restriction on dates available and where they will drive to. Our existing driver is outstanding because she will go anywhere and soon has any necessary rescue collection diaried, removing any worry and stress we would otherwise have. Yes she too is a very busy professional person, so all these people who write saying 'I'd like to help but I am busy' are just wasting our time.

We get so many volunteers who do not live up to what they promise; offers of proactive help are of no use to any rescue if it takes either too long a time, or too many emails to organise a collection, since there are other things I need to be doing! I need people all over the UK whom I can just email with the basic details of cats needing collection, and who will respond immediately with their available dates and stick to the agreed day. This cuts down 'faffing' time - which I am not really into!

If you are business minded, can make quick diary decisions, and can collect for us maybe on alternate weekends or one weekend a month, please email, because it is unfair to land all these tasks on one busy person.

We are still in Cheshire!

A lot of email exchanges take place, planning visits to see me, and then people say - ah, I didn't realise you were in Cheshire! We are in fact on the border of Cheshire and Staffordshire, in beautiful parkland, so you could well make a day of it if you are travelling a distance. Or you might even like to make a weekend of it and see some of the local scenery. It's great for walkers and cyclists especially.

Please bear in mind I am happy to see you wherever you are from.... as long as you're willing to travel here. I am also happy to take cats from all over UK, for rehoming.

On rare occasions transport for cats coming in, can be arranged, but as we have only 1 driver, please do try to bring your own cats in because our driver can only do so much.

Need a New Home for Your Cat?

We have space for SIX more cats (April 25th 2008).

Most - but not all - people who send a cat to us for rehoming, are able to help us financially by paying the Incoming Cat Fee of £60. However, if you cannot pay it, please book the cat in anyway; we would not like funds to be a deterrent in genuine cases.

Please book in (using the links below) any pedigree cat who needs a space. Having booked, you will need to bring your cat to us: drop us an email after you have made a space booking, and we will sort a day and time. It's that simple!

Reserving the space for your cat online, guarantees that he goes to the top of the list!

Please do not back out of paying our fee if actually you can afford it, because if you do not help us, the funds will have to come from the Rescue Manager herself!

There is no way any animal can be cared for for several weeks, without incurring sizeable bills, so although £60 may sound a lot...work it out...it's a tiny sum in the context of what it costs to care for your pet.

By the time an animal leaves he or she will have cost us at least £250.

Whether paying or not, if you have two or more cats to book in, just amend the 'quantity' when you are on the payments page: it will then adjust applicable fees accordingly. We are quite happy to take online reservations for up to 8 cats at a time.

Once you have paid the fee I will email you immediately to find out more about your cat(s) and to find out what date you prefer to bring the cat(s) in.

Terms of Our Online Space  Booking:

• We reserve the right to decline any animal if we consider it not in the best interests of the animal to be rehomed (e.g. if a pet is suffering and in our opinion should not travel to us). In such cases all fees are refunded forthwith.

• Having paid the fee or reserved a free-of-charge space, the pet(s) must be delivered in within 30 days. Spaces will not be held longer than 30 days for any animal.

• Once we receive a free-of-charge type of reservation, we will write to the pet owner by email requesting details of the financial circumstances. Please do not be offended by this; we need to ensure that only genuine hardship cases use the free system as it removes the availability of that FOC space for anyone else.

• If you have booked a free-of-charge space and you can afford to give us something, even if it's a small amount, we will be extremely grateful.

• A fee that is paid, is non refundable if you do not come on the appointed day; your space may also be lost. 

• We reserve the right to request a slightly higher fee for very sick or very old animals if we believe there to be a lot of vet care needed, (though this happens less than three times per annum.)

NB: We do not decline any hardship cases, so if you cannot afford to pay a fee please book in as above.....using the link that is provided for free of charge cases.

I am happy to take in any pedigree cat, irrespective of age and health, for rehoming.

We do not keep animals long term ourselves, but we seek for them the very best home possible. Even old and infirm pets can get great homes!

OK, they're expensive, but they have totally changed my life. No more STRESS about cats who are prone to matting!

My Persian cats look and feel amazing, but also how great to have a fluff free house! What...no more fluffballs stuck to the carpets? I'm almost at a loose end now that my vacuuming has diminished so much!

This pic below shows a REAL picture of the fluff I removed from just two of my own Persian cats, using a combination of these 2 tools the night I received them! (Oh dear, I don't think my cat 'Mungo' was thrilled to have had his undercoat exterminated, do you?! Look at his face!).
