Hi Suzanne and thank you for your concern.

Yes, we are in Long Island, but thankfully North of the evacuation areas. We are still buckling down for 12 hours of possible torrential rains and have taken all necessary precautions.

Lived on the Atlantic Coast in Long Beach (a mandatory evac area) for many years and braved many a hurricane, but this one, although a low category (1 at present) is slowing down even more, which gives the potential of very dangerous surges and severe flooding.

An earthquake and hurricane in a week's time has to be an all time record for the New York area.
